The Semaphore Carousel will celebrate its 75th year as a resident of the Semaphore Foreshore in 2013. (But was Built in the 1920's) It is believed to be the largest operating carousel in Australia with 40 handcrafted wooden horses with most other rides like this only have 36 horses. As a seaside carnival attraction of yesteryear, the place is magical and a must for visitors, families and also a unique venue to hire for private parties and functions.
The building's hexagon structure can accommodate up to 100 persons comfortably for a sit down meal. Weddings, anniversaries, corporate functions or just a family & friends get-together are just a few events that can be booked at the carousel.
Due to Less People Buying tickets over the Past Years, Historic carousels like the Semaphore Carousel are an endangered species so we need to encourage people to come enjoy this treasure and learn about its unique history and art. If people begin caring and supporting This carousel today, then it can be still be around for their great-grandchildren to enjoy in the future.” We not only provide entertainment but feel that it is important to educate the children, the next generation of carousel lovers, about this treasure in their backyard. We need to help build future carousel preservationists.
